A GUIDE TO WEARING OVER THE KNEE BOOTS

I get a lot of questions about this topic. This biggest question is. “What’s the age cut off?” Over the knee boots can be tricky and can very quickly go from chic and stylish, to “Pretty Woman.” The truth is, they are more about proportion, than age. Here are a few style tips for wearing OTK boots if you’re a woman over 40:

  1. They are best when worn with thick leggings, dark wash, or black denim and a longer top.

  2. Choose a flat, or a heel no higher than 3 inches.

  3. Style them with a T-shirt and a tailored blazer, a blouse under a fur vest or a cozy sweater.

  4. If you are petite, opt for a boot with a shorter shaft that comes just above the knee to avoid looking like you’re being swallowed. An 18-23 inch shaft is perfect for petites. Anything over 25” is ideal for taller women.

Applying these general, fool proof guidelines will ensure that you will always look polished and pulled together.

Don’t worry about sounding professional. Sound like you. There are over 1.5 billion websites out there, but your story is what’s going to separate this one from the rest. If you read the words back and don’t hear your own voice in your head, that’s a good sign you still have more work to do.

Be clear, be confident and don’t overthink it. The beauty of your story is that it’s going to continue to evolve and your site can evolve with it. Your goal should be to make it feel right for right now. Later will take care of itself. It always does.
